1. Ridenour Memorial Park. What’s a family outing without a picnic? This forty-three-acre park consists of picnic spots, dog-friendly trails and play areas. Also, the park had pavilions and gazebos where one can organise outdoor events. The Ridenour Lake was built in the seventies which provides scenic views along the hiking trails and provides a good site for fishing. Construction began in 1924, and, after the three stages of construction were completed. 12. You don’t have to be a religious person to appreciate architectural and philosophical beauty. The Baptist Temple, founded in 1869, built its present house of worship in 1924 with the dedication in 1925. The Baptist Temple building is significant for many reasons which merited its inclusion in the National Register of Historic Places in 2000. One of the most significant features is that it is the only structure in West Virginia designed by the nationally recognized master architect Ernest Flagg of New York City. The structure’s symmetry and architectural detailing embodies the Classical teachings of the Beaux-de-Arts. This is how the temple defines itself.
