Depression can lead to very different many paths in a person life witch others wouldn’t be able to know. While we all feel sad, moody or low from time to time, some people experience these feelings intensely, for long periods of time weeks, months or even years and sometimes without any apparent reason. Depression is more than just a low mood it’s a serious condition that has an impact on both physical and mental health. Many have tried not to let depression lead them to a dark path. Some have did it but not others because they weren’t mentally ready for it. Depression is a real and scary mental illness that has ransacked our society. It has gotten more common and yet people still do not understand the severity of it. Awareness projects for depression have started to come about and now we have a hotline people who feel this way can call when they cannot handle the pressure of this mental illness. These projects have started to educate our society on this mental illness, but we need more. Depression debilitates a person and can run their life. It is a mental illness that can make a person act in certain ways they wouldn’t normally act if they were feeling fine. It affects people’s sleeping and eating schedules and many aspects of their daily life. Suicidal thoughts are also very common for a person with severe depression and these are dangerous life threatening thoughts. There is medication that people suffering from depression can take to help stabilize their mood so thoughts like these do not threaten their wellbeing. Going to therapy and talking about their feelings is also another great way to help fight against depression. Depression is a hard topic to talk about because society has made it seem like a weakness and taboo, but in reality when someone seeks help they are truly seen as a strong survivor. Depression is a disorder that can affect everything you do in your daily life. It is not something you can quickly recover from, like a cold or stomach bug. Many people with depression think they are just feeling sad, and that it will go away with time. For some people, it does just that. But for 15 million others, depression is a constant feeling that does not go away on its own. These people are the ones who may benefit from extra support and help.
