This book educates readers about more than just Malala’s own life. In this book, Malala told us about her childhood and the worldview her father instilled in her. The first half of the book Malala describes Pakistan’s history including the history of her ancestors and the northern region of Pakistan, Swat where she lives. Malala also shares stories of her family, from a young woman’s perspective. Many of the stories involve Malala’s father Ziauddin Yousafzai. She describes his involvement in local politics, in the community and his vocal support of education for boys and girls. There’s no doubt Malala’s passion and courage to stand-up for women’s rights stems from her father’s actions and characters.

Malala told us in this book about his early life. When she was born nobody congratulated to her parents. Her father had no money at her birth time to took her mother to hospital so a neighbour help in her birth. In her families, the birth of boys are celebrated with great treat but the girls are hidden away. Her father’s cousin Jehan Sher Khan Yousafzai was one of the few who came to celebrate his birth and given a handsome gift and money. She was named after Malalai of Maiwand, the greatest heroine of Afghanistan, Pashtuns are a proud people of many tribes split between Pakistan and Afghanistan. They live as they have for centuries by a code Pashtunwali, which obliges them to give hospitality to all guests and in which the most important value is honour. Shame is very terrible thing for a Pasthun man.

Malalai was the daughter of shepherd in Maiwand, a small town on the dusty plains west of Kandahar. She was killed under fire, but her words and bravery inspired the mento turn the battle around. Many girls’ schools in Afghanistan are named after her. But her grandfather, who was a religious scholar and village cleric, did not like her father giving her that name. he said that it is a sad name. it means grief-stricken. Her father told the story of Malalai to anyone who come to their house. She lived in the most beautiful place in the world. They lived in the shadow of the Hindu Kush Mountains, where the men went to a shoot ibex and golden cockerels. Their house was one storey and proper concrete. Their valley is full of fruit trees on which grow the sweetest figs and pomegranates and peaches. She liked to sit on the roof and watch the mountains and dream. The highest mountain of all is the pyramid-shaped Mount Eum.

Her father had trouble with words. Sometimes they would get stuck and he would repeat the same syllable over and over like a record caught in a groove as they all waited for the next syllable to suddenly pop out. Her father comes to a large family. He had one much older brother, Saeed Ramzan and five sisters. As in most families, the girls stayed at home while the boys went to school. They were just waiting to be married. School was not the only thing that her aunts missed out on. In the morning when her father was given milk, his sisters were given tea with no milk. If there were eggs, they would only be for the boys. Her grandfather studied in India, where he had seen great speakers and leaders. Her mother started school when she was six and stopped the same term. She was unusual in the village as she had a father and brothers who encouraged her to go to school. She was the only girl in the class of boys. She carried her bag of books proudly into school and claims she was brighter than the boys.

For the first few years after graduating from Jehanzeb her father worked as an English teacher in a well-known private college. But the salary was low, just 1,600 rupees a month (around $12), and her grandfather complained he was not contributing to the household. It was also not enough for him to save ror the wedding he hoped for to his beloved. They started live outside from her village but they visit her village for Eid holidays. They were very excited when they go to their village. They took gifts and medicines for their family. Occasionally, there were weddings and they attended the weddings with big feasts.

Malala is a genius girl. At the age of seven she was used to being top of her class. She was also known for participating in everything – badminton, drama, cricket, art, even singing. She was shot by Taliban bullet and was flown out of Pakistan unconscious. Some men stopped their school van and asked “who is Malala?”. Nobody said anything but some girls were looked at her. They shot on the Malala and she was the only girl who was not covered her face. They fired three shots, one after another. The first went through her left eye socket and out under her left shoulder. She slumped forward onto Manitoba, blood coming from her left ear, so the other two bullets hit the other girls next to her. By the time they got to the hospital. Her long hair and Moniba’s lap were full of blood. Some people say that she will never return home but she believe firmly in her heart that she will. She wanted to see her own country, her own village and room full of with her things. At that time, she was in Birmingham, England.
