In the story Beowulf, there are many scenes of where Grendel, Grendel’s Mother, and Beowulf seem angry or disgusted. Grendel comes across vicious and always angry, but he is angry for a reason. Grendel is angry towards mankind because he feels that God is blessing them but that the ogre himself can never be blessed. Grendel’s mother is angry because she always has ongoing controversy among medieval scholars. They do refer Grendel’s mother as a “warrior”, when referring to the character Beowulf.
Beowulf is a person who gets into things and stops it, but makes it worse more than usual. Beowulf kills Grendel’ mother because after Grendel is killed, Grendel’s mother attacks heorot in revenge. Beowulf usually tries to make things better though. Even though Beowulf, Grendel, and Grendel’ mother come across as evil, they do have attributes to positive things in the story and try to be pleasant. The reader should view Grendel in more sympathy because you can see all that she is going through and has to deal with. Grendel is also feared by everyone except Beowulf. Grendel is considered a monster or giant, but him being a giant is not well explained in Beowulf.
Grendel does have some human qualities such as knowing, thinking, giving, and has sympathy towards the people that are going through tough times. Grendel is a big hairy giant that comes across scary, but Grendel has a craving for God’s creation of the world, that goes along with Grendel in nature. Grendel was talked about in lines (702-836). Grendel’s mother and Grendel are descendants from Cain, in Genesis 4. Grendel is introduced in Beowulf at lines (1258b and 1258a), as one of the three antagonists in Beowulf. Grendel’s mother tries to get revenge on the Heorot Hall, because Heorot killed Grendel. You can see Grendel’ mother is very feisty, but she has sympathy and compassion for her son, and will never back down from anyone. Grendel’ mother manages to kill one, but then she retrieves back to where she came from. Grendel might come across as nasty and always getting in people’s business, but she does have sympathy when it comes to family. The reader should most definitely question Beowulf’s, because Beowulf ripped Grendel’s arm off, and made Grendel bleed to death. Yes, Beowulf is a hero but he is also nasty and vicious at the same time. So, you can say that Beowulf is a murderer, cause he killed someone. Beowulf is a hero, because Beowulf kills Grendel, Grendel’s mother, and the dragon. He did that because no one liked them, and no one was willing to take them on in a fight. Beowulf fought all of them not just for him, but for others and Beowulf had much sympathy for others. The others that he fought were extremely strong and vicious and wanted to kill them for his people. Beowulf’s main parts were (1008-1250), but he did have many more lines.
So, all this wrapped up, Grendel fought for his mother, but also tried to kill those of Beowulf’s side. Grendel’s mother tried to kill Beowulf cause Heorot Hall was for Beowulf. Grendel’s mother also tried to kill all of those that liked Beowulf, but did not succeed and was killed by Beowulf. Beowulf on the other hand, killed people but fought for his people and killed all the enemies that went his way. Beowulf is a hero, warrior, and will always be remembered as a hero. Beowulf is one of the oldest surviving pieces of literature in the English language, and the old English language too.
