How many of us know that till today 56 countries follows death penalty and 106 countries abolished death penalty from their law. Many people say that death penalty has lots of advantages, whereas others dispute that it has disadvantages over advantages, because it can execute innocent people, it’s a is ultimate denial of human rights and children are sometimes affected by capital punishment
Firstly, death penalty can execute innocent people. To make it more clear, fake argument by opposition can give a capital punishment to the innocent man or women even they’re not committed crime. The death penalty is irreversible. Inevitably, it will claim innocent victims. As long as human justice remains fallible, the risk of executing the innocent can never be eliminated(Amnesty-volunteer.org, 2019). The study shows that at least 4.1% of all defendants sentenced to death in the US in the modern era are innocent (Pilkington, 2019). Hence, it is clear that death penalty can kill wrong person
Secondly, death penalty is ultimate denial of human rights. Everyone has the right to live in this world no matter what ever they do. Giving capital punishment for a crime is also one or another way is a crime, there is no difference in that, one is by accuse another by court (American Civil Liberties Union, 2019). It violates the right to life as proclaimed in the Universal Declaration of Human Rights. It is the ultimate cruel, inhuman, and degrading punishment (Amnesty-volunteer.org, 2019). So, it is evident that giving death penalty for crime is a denial of human rights, there is no difference in crime and giving death penalty.
Thirdly, children are sometimes affected by capital punishment. death sentence itself is a violation of human rights so juvenile execution is extreme level of violation of human rights still it is followed by countries like Iran. There are at least 97 kids who were put to death by capital punishment laws in Iran since 1990. Another 145 child executions have happened in China, the Republic of Congo, Pakistan, Sudan, South Sudan, Yemen, Nigeria – and the United States. (FutureofWorking.com, 2019). The UN human rights office has said Iran is the worst in the world when it comes to sentencing minors to death (www.dw.com), 2019). Juvenile execution needs to stopd by all countries and government
Finally, many people argue that death penalty reduce crime rate in their nation and also, they feel that those who conduct crime deserve equal punishment. almost all countries, those who follow death penalty says that they are able to control crime rate through death penalty and they think that people will respect their government and follow laws because of death penalty. some countries argue that capital punishment allows for a deserved punishment for horrific crimes. They believe that each criminal need to be punished as per their crimes, and crime like aggravated cases of rape, child rape, child sexual abuse, terrorism, etc. are deserve capital punishment (Chief, 2019). For several situations entire nation asked death penalty for criminals. In Delhi rape case, almost thousands of girls came to the street and did protest, to get capital punishment to the criminals. (Harmeet Shah Singh. Jethro Mullen and Sumnima Udas, 2019). Hence, they think that capital punishment can control crime rate and some crimes deserve capital punishments.
As per the above discussion it is clear that by the capital punishment innocent people and children can be killed, and it is the denial of human rights. Most of the us still unaware of this topic, everyone needs to be aware about this because it is still happening in our world, so the discussion about this topic is relevant. It is evident that once a person is killed, there is no coming back, so each decision is important. giving capital punishment is inappropriate, so either the criminals can be prisoned for lifelong or some other punishment need to be given.
