A simple definition of a leader is the art of motivating aa group of people to act towards achieving a common goal. In a health and social care sector, this can mean the health care leaders help team members and organisations perform optimally in a constantly developing environment. A manager is a person responsible for controlling or administering an organisation or a group of staff. There are different hierarchies of titles in an organisation like for example maybe a CEO, Vice president, director, then manager. The way this works is the higher you climb in the organisations ranks, the further away you move from the day-today operations and work of the firm’s employees. Whereas the CEO and Vice-president of the company work to focus more on the strategies of any business. Whereas managers are directly involved with the individuals, like for example taking care of the consumers, producing and selling the firm’s goods or services.
The main difference between the two is that leaders have people that follow them, while managers have people who simply work for them. The difference between a leader and a manager is that leaders tend to help their people to success and drive people, whereas managers work to find faults. Based in health and social care, Management and leaderships are important for the delivery of good health services, although the two are similar in some way, but they do involve different types of outlook, skills and behaviours.

This is particularly important in the healthcare industry where people’s life are at stake. Unfortunately, not everyone is cut out to be a leader in the medical industry. A good healthcare leader needs to be able to lead by example. Which means that a health and social care professional needs to have a strong medical knowledge and also the experience to back up the knowledge. Another characteristic that is important is that a leader would need to have the knowledge giving the correct, suited person for a specific job. Like for example identifying the best person to get a certain job done.

A well-known characteristic, all leaders should consider is knowing how to listen carefully, to all of the information and opinions available.

Nothing is ever planned, especially in the health care industry. The challenges, complications and emergencies which might arise at any time can never be planned. This means that a good leader can respond and adapt as required to resolve anything and everything that goes up in his way.

Healthcare managers have various roles and responsibilities within their organisation. The first and most obvious role would be managing personnel. The Coalition Models
A coalition model is where management, training and staffing structures of the services work in federated partnership. There is an association and alliance between both elements, but they operate discreetly. (Tony Bertram, n.d.). Similar to a “lead body” model in that it is a collaboration between autonomous organisations and does not have its own legal identity. It is likely to be a fixed-term arrangement. The key difference is that all of the partners are signatories to the grant or contract and the funds involved are allocated and distributed to the individual partners, who control their element of the contract and take legal responsibility for it (Collaborative working and partnerships, 2017). This model is a collaboration between two or more independent organisations.
The benefits of this model include:

- Advice and services provided by professional bodies which are independent from the organisation delivering support resulting in unbiased and impartial provision.
- Additional choice for the individual.
- Clearly defined objectives
- Clarity of professional accountability
The coalition model, helps healthcare in partnership as it helps the service understand the alliance between both organisations. Also it can help the service, widen their resources to help them provide a more professional service.
The strengths for working in Partnership when it comes to the professional is that they have other people they can lean on, when the workload gets too much. This would be shared responsibilities as they are able to identify your strengths and weakness and help you with your work. When working in a partnership, you can learn new skills and develop an understanding of how they like to work which then gives you an advantage of developing knowledge of the importance of confidentiality and why they take their job seriously.
Also, when working with other professionals you have a common goal and that would be prioritizing the service user as they would be your key person to look after this would be because you are working to make sure all their needs are met, and they do not feel scared or show any form of abuse. You can do this by communicating with them effectively. Also, having the same belief and ethos allows you to work appropriately and equally with time management because you know that they are aware of their beliefs and which can help them be aware of how the service user would like to wake up and what they would like to eat based on the religion.
However, the weakness of working in partnership is when working with other professionals they may not understand you due to a communication barrier as you may not have the same language as them when talking. It may be hard to communicate in English with other people. Because of this, the other individual may find it hard to talk to you and have self-esteem issues knowing that they aren’t getting their point across due to this. Also, many service users at their workplace may have different roles but when all service users are put together they may not have the same respect given as they did at their workplace. as all professionals should be respected in the same way and not favorited because they are more educated than the others which can then can lead to some inconveniences.
If a service user has no capacity it can be difficult for them to trust others as they don’t have a support system knowing they have someone there that will help them. Also to help them to achieve the main goal which is their health and wellbeing. ( B. Saunders, J. Stanton† 2004 ). Knowing that the service user respects you and helps you can allow them to feel more comfortable around you and make them feel reassured because you are helping them financially or even mentally.
