Greta Thunberg is a fifteen-year-old from Stockholm, Sweden. When she was eight, she learned about global warming. She had Asperger’s syndrome, which is kinda like autism. That means she is extremely focused on some things and not others. She got really into global warming, and realized the effect of it on our world. Because of this, she became depressed. She stopped eating and talking. After talking to her parents, Greta realized that she should advocate for this cause. Every Friday, she skipped school, and sat outside the Parliament. Eventually, more and more people began getting inspired by her. First, a few people joined in. Then a few cities joined in. Then countries, and then, the entire world joined, to protest for global warming.

Greta was invited to multiple conferences. She said,“We are in a mass extinction, and all you care about is money” at a conference in the UN. She highlighted that since the government isn’t helping us, well, we should do it. She also called attention to the fact that time is running out, and if we fail to stop the amount of global warming and climate change, our world as we know it will be destroyed.

Climate change, global warming, etc. You do realize it’s closer than you think. The world’s temperatures rise 1.5 degrees a year. Well, that may not seem big to you, but the higher temperatures increase the glacier-melting speed, which makes the ocean levels rise, which can lead to areas near the sea, flooding. Greta Thunberg is one of the many people who realize the gravity of this situation, and she is speaking up for it.

The effects of global warming are REALLY bad, and can ruin our lives, our planet, and animal’s lives. So why let them? We can protest ourselves, by doing even small thing, such as bike to school on Spare The Air days, and also buy less factory products. Greta thunberg says, “No one is too small to make a difference”, and you can see that by what she has done.
