Surfing is a very big thing in Hawaii. There are lots of good surfing spots like Tunnels beaches in Kauai. There are other ones like Waimea bay, Sunset Beach, Banzai Pipeline, and Halwiea. During winter is the big season for surfing, which is November through April. It is really big on Oahu’s rugged north shore, with waves that can be as tall as 20 feet. May through October the waves are a still and motionless. But that would be a great time to go swimming or snorkeling. Today there are lots of surfing/boarding you can do and use. There is longboarding, shortboarding, tow-in surfing, bodyboarding, body surfing, and stand-up paddle boarding. Unlike the U.S mainland, waves are measured by the Hawaii scale. The waves are always in feet.
