Education is an ongoing process. All the leaders around the world, scientists, doctors, and engineers are educated,d people. As a result, we can see that education also contributed to the molding of the world we live in today. Without education, all the luxuries and opportunities we can experience today would not exist. Learning about various subjects increases the student’s eagerness to learn making it worthwhile. Education does not stop at secondary level education, students can further their knowledge by obtaining a bachelor’s degree, master’s degree, and doctoral degree.
Lifelong learning is endless that requires self-motivation and they want to pursue further knowledge. This drive can be the result of either a personal goal or professional reasons. “Knowledge is power. Information is liberating. Education is the premise of progress, in every society, in every family.” – Kofi Annan (Secretariat, 2018). In this paper, I will discuss the importance of having an education and how the ACM and IEEE computer society helps the graduated student to continue lifelong learning and continuing education.
Every day is a learning experience for each individual. Having a proper education is essential today. Education not only takes place in the classroom but staat its home and throughout our everyday life. Whether it be by learning a new skill or expanding your knowledge of something that has piqued your interest. Education is essential for everyone as it enhances our knowledge, and the way of living our everyday lifestyles. “Education is the key to success in life, and teachers make a lasting impact in the lives of their students.” -Solomon Ortiz (Gowdy, n.d.). As children, our parents tell us the importance of having an education in life and the advantages that come with excelling by having good grades can change your life.
Education is extremely important for everyone; it is required everywhere. People need education as it helps them to learn new things and find good jobs. Having a good education, we can have a better career and obtain more money. The more educated a person becomes the higher their chances are of obtaining success in life. An educated person will most likely be a successful citizen of society. The importance of having an education can also be seen from the standpoint of people with minimal educational experience. This results in limited job options and earning a lesser salary.
The Association for Computing Machinery (ACM) and Institute of Electrical and Electronics Engineers (IEEE) computer society has helped graduate students to continue their lifelong learning to continuing education. The Association for Computing Machinery (ACM) is a US-based international scholar society for computing. This society was established in 1947 and is the world’s largest scientific and educational computing society. The ACM is a non-profit professional membership society, with almost 100,000 student and professional members. Its headquarters are in New York City (By Samuel B. Williams, 1954).
The IEEE is a professional society of the Institute of Electrical and Electronics Engineers. The IEEE Computer Society participates in the ongoing development of college computing curriculums, by partnering with the Association for Computing Machinery (ACM). Some of the other educational activities the organizations have to offer include, software development certifications programs and online access to e-learning materials and books. IEEE is the world’s largest technical professional organization that is dedicated to the rapid advancement of technology for the continuous evolution of mankind. Its goal and vision are ‘to advance the theory, practice, and application of computer and information processing science and technology and the ‘professional standing of its members (Wikipedia, n.d.).’ With both the ACM and IEEE organizations students can further their process of lifelong learning.
Computer technology plays a vital role today. Computer technology consists of hardware in computers and computer-controlled devices with a software operating system, authoring tools, expert systems, and courseware. Technology has become a necessity for many individuals via the use of smartphones, computers, and other computerized gadgets. Computer technology has evolved tremendously over the years, we are constantly learning to improve our knowledge and staying estate.
In conclusion, as previously stated knowledge is power. Having a proper education is essential from birth. By having an education, we can have a better opportunity in our career choices and earn more money.
