Radhakrishnan’s views on poetry are profound and original. His life was an attempt to narrow the East-West divide. He laid emphasis on inner transformation and knowledge. Aware of the limitations of Science, he sought an ‘experiential religion’ which would uhser in harmony and stability. His essay Kalki is an elegy in prose in which he voices his concern over the deteriorating conditions in various spheres of life viz., religion, family, politics, economic relations and international relations.

The greatest intellect of our age, Nirad C. Choudhuri continues to be an enigma in Indian English writing in English. He is an outsider in his own land whose provocative inferences annoyed the mediocre and the neo-patriotic Indians. His The Continent of Circle is a scathing indictment of the predominantly Hindu society whereas his ‘Discovery of India’ in England is a disturbing experience for the reader.
