What does intersectional feminism mean to you? In this modern world guide for a large amount of prejudice there are thousands of words that describe all the oppression and discrimination that people of minority class for the society have been submerged, and one of this word is intersectional feminism which was a term invented by Kimberle Crenshwin on 1989, wherein an article wrote by the University of Chicago Legal Forum, Crenshaw presents that wrote that conventional feminist concepts and antiracist policies prohibit black women because they have suffered extending types of discrimination exclusive to them. One of the quotes that I could highlight about what she explains in her paper was; “Because the intersectional experience is greater than the sum of racism and sexism, any analysis that does not take intersectionality into account cannot sufficiently address the particular manner in which Black women are subordinated (Crenshwin).” The word intersectionality is a structure that was established by black feminist scholars to encourage people to understand how it is feel to be affected by multiple forms of power and injustice at the same time and what it is the raise of this, Intersectionality was originally intended to create a space where black women could be both black and women without having either of those identities decrease.
But, in reality, the power of intersectional it is not just to help women of color, but for all type of female around the world which suffer multiple oppression every day. Even though nowadays intersectionality is a recent topic for the masses, and its information is one that certainly all feminists can fill identify to the fact: begin to admit listening and put on several groups of women and their involvement in the society. What I could address is that intersectionality is a term used to describe how different components of discrimination can get united at an intersection and can damage in many ways someone's life. This reform is agreeing that obstacles by gender equality are modified based on different conditions of a woman’sidentity including; age, race, religion, ethnicity, culture, social class, and customs, and effort to approach a distinguish matter of women’s problems. However, I believe that Intersectional feminism is taking into one place the many different ways eachwoman goes through discrimination, this term is not only about meeting more continues issues like violence and economic inequality. Also, its concerned is to permit people to have better life and as a movement of women empowerment each person could have avoice, in any moment of life human beings have had to confront lots of vulnerabilities which show the intersections of racism, sexism, class oppression, transphobia, able-ism and more. Therefore, I think that intersectional feminism is a particular way of feminism which its purpose is that intent to incorporate all women and identify their race, gender identity, sexual orientation, abilities, and social class remarking the fact of the abundant oppression that some females have been immersed.
In my opinion, including intersectionality to feminism and the whole society is relevant to the movement because it allows the combat for gender equality to become freer of stereotypes. Overall, when society learns how to use intersectionality in the correct way it allows humanity could understand their rights and their value in a better way. Intersectionality is an analytic sensibility, a way of thinking about identity and its relationship to power. Indeed, The amazing power of intersectionality refers to the fact that it is just about us staying up and cooperating for each other because of the end of the day, we all experience discrimination and gender inequality differently and uniquely, but what matter is that we are all united in our hope for equality.
