Their Resilience Team is responsible when dealing with the day to day emergency planning. When working with the NRF, they facilitate the “Emergency Planning Society” whose role is to deliver Major Incident command and control training to the emergency services. They also liaise with the other Category 1 and 2 agencies in relation for planning in case of large or difficult incidents such as major traffic accidents and explosions. Also they bring to the NRF specialist knowledge as tactical advisors to staff in the emergency operations centres. St John’s Ambulance service play an important role in the planning for Major Incidents. Due to the fact they can be used as a relief force for the East of England Ambulance Service, St John’s Ambulance service help plan and coordinate the use of emergency vehicles and paramedics who can assist the Category 1 responders on the scene. Their main role during the planning stage is to share information with the other emergency services so that they can use their resources to the best capabilities.
