The play Macbeth is about a man who doesn’t stay true to himself. He lets the thoughts of others mislead him to do things he wouldn’t normally do. The main influence on him was the witches. He died at the end and while some would sat his death was the fault of Lady Macbeth, Macduff, it even hisself, The witches are the ones who are at fault for his death because they mislead him through riddles and told him what some of his future held. The vocabulary word I chose was paradox which means a statement or proposition that, despite sound or apparently sound reasoning from acceptable premises, leads to a conclusion that seems senseless, logically unacceptable, or self-contradictory.
In the beginning of Macbeth, the witches tell macbeth he will be the thane of cawdor. When Beowulf hears about the massive death toll and d: “Stay, you imperfect speakers, tell me more: By Sinel's death I know I am thane of Glamis; But how of Cawdor? the thane of Cawdor lives, A prosperous gentleman; and to be king Stands not within the prospect of belief, No more than to be Cawdor. Say from whence You owe this strange intelligence? or why Upon this blasted heath you stop our way With such prophetic greeting? Speak, I charge you.” This quote is very important and backs up my claim that the the witches is most to blame for Macbeth’s tragic end consequently by
Later in the play of Macbeth, he went on a journey for answers of his future from the witches to only get misguidence. He was told 4 different apparitions which is the appearance of something remarkable or unexpected, typically an image of this type. One of the apparitions was beware the thane of Fife which was macduff, another apparition was about no one born of women can kill macbeth. With those being told macbeth felt immortal not knowing a c section wasn’t classified as being born by woman which macduff had been through when he was born. Macbeth later said: “Then live, Macduff: what need I fear of thee? But yet I'll make assurance double sure, And take a bond of fate: thou shalt not live; That I may tell pale-hearted fear it lies, And sleep in spite of thunder.” (IV.III.82-86) In this quote, with Macbeth’s lack of knowledge now since he is a nescience and lost most of his morals he passes the witches first apparition to beware of macduff because he will try and kill macbeth. Only because the witches second apparition no one born of women can kill macbeth with the witches leaving out a c section isn’t classified as born as woman. This quote is very important and backs up my claim that the witches is most to blame for Macbeth’s tragic end secondly by if the witches didn’t play mind games with macbeth and tell macbeth a c-section isn't classified as born by woman which macduff was. Macduff as many other men or woman delivered by c-section could have the upperhand and end up killing macbeth. If macbeth knew a c-section born baby could kill him he would hold a higher chip on his shoulder, and be less bold or outrageous. The fight in Act 5 would be different macbeth wouldn’t be so carelessly as Macbeth kills a Young Siward, which was one son of English commanders son. Macduff looks for Macbeth to try and kill him than Macbeth tells him that there’s no point in Macduff trying to kill him Macbeth can’t be harmed by anyone born of a woman but technically since he isn’t of woman born does exactly that. Macduff demands surrender, and Macbeth refuses. The two fight until Macduff kills Macbeth, by brutally lacerating his head off which is the end of macbeth.
In the last act in the play of Macbeth, the final fight occurs between macbeth and macduff. Back to the apparitions the summarization of the third one stated macbeth shall never deceased until Great Birnam wood to high Dunsinane hill fights versus him. The witches knowing that’s where macbeth will die but leave out important information on how they don’t inform him macduff will be there and will defeat him. So with macbeth being fearless he says: “Bring it after me. I will not be afraid of death and bane, Till Birnam forest come to Dunsinane.” (V.III.58-60) This quote is very important and backs up my claim that the the witches is most to blame for Macbeth’s tragic end lastly by in Birnam Wood Macbeth believes that he sees Birnam wood moving, when really it is the soldiers behind branches he is losing his mind. Macbeth dismisses reports of invasion by trusting to the prophecies of the apparitions, which seemed to promise him invincibility in battle. When a servant enters to announce the approach of a huge army, Macbeth appears momentarily to lose courage and then angrily spurns his servant and orders his armor to be put on. The Doctor, whose news concerning Lady Macbeth is just as grim, is treated with similar contempt. So if macbeth never trusted the witches apparitions or if they gave him the full story of each and didn’t leave out important details like Malcolm and his troops have reached Dunsinane under the 'leafy screens' of the branches, thus fulfilling the prophecy of the apparitions: Birnam wood has come to Dunsinane. Now fully armed, Macbeth confidently turns all his scorn on the advancing armies, only to find his brave rhetoric interrupted by an offstage shriek. The queen is dead whether by her own hand is not made clear and Macbeth is left to contemplate a lonely future of endless tomorrows 'signifying nothing.' Yet another blow comes with the announcement that Birnam Wood appears to have uprooted itself and is even now advancing towards Dunsinane. Again Macbeth recalls the prophecies of Act IV, sure of but still wishing to deny, their powerful truth walks into a trap and later died so macbeth would still be alive or the end of macbeth would be different if he didn’t go to the witches for more help or they told him whole truth.
When Macbeth went to find out his future from the witches they told him and that made him power hungry. The witches brought up the spirits and had Macbeth believing that he was invincible or immortal. When they told him that no man of a woman born not giving all the details an harm him, they were speaking through riddles but he didn’t know that. The witches way of omitting the truth eventually blindsided Macbeth and caused his demise which wiped him out and was no longer the thane of cawdor.
