When I first begin to take the strengths finder quiz, I was nervous, and anxious at the same time. I was nervous because I didn’t know what my top strengths would be. I had an idea, but I wasn’t confident. As I began taking the test, I noticed that they asked you the same questions, but they word it differently. Towards the middle of the quiz, I was so anxious to know what my results would be.
When I got my results, it told me that my first strength was Responsibility. It stated that someone who is talented in this theme always does what they say they will do. My second strength was a developer. Someone who is gifted in this theme finds all small improvements and derive satisfaction from these improvements. My third strength was a relator. It stated someone who is talented in this theme seeks deep pleasure in working hard with friends to achieve goals. My fourth strength is belief. It indicated someone who is capable in this theme has specific core values that are unchanging. Out of these values emerges a defined purpose for their life. My fifth and last strength is woo. Someone who is talented in this theme loves the challenge of meeting new people and winning them over. They derive satisfaction from breaking the ice and making a connection with another person.
Once I received my top 5 strengths, I was very pleased, confused, and relieved at the same time. I was pleased because I knew that responsibility, developer, and belief would be in my top five strengths. Now when it comes to relator and woo, I was perplexed. I honestly didn’t have any idea what those strengths were. As I begin to read about woo and relator, I realized that I am talented in both of themes, and I never knew because I had no idea what those words were. I was relieved because I finally finished the quiz and I was able to review my results. Once I finally ended the assessment and received my top five strengths, I was able to read and understand each strength. Knowing what my results will help me so much in life, and in my profession.
The traits that I need to work on is confidence and communication. When it comes to confidence, I tend to get nervous about making big decisions. I need to work on my confidence because how am I going to be confident in my employees when I’m not confident in myself. When it comes to communication, I tend to shut down and will not talk to anyone when I get angry, nervous, disappointed, and annoyed. I need to work on my confidence because I need excellent communication with my employees to run a great business. These two traits don’t differ from the strengths to be a good manager because I need communication and confidence to be a great manager.
Although I will use all five of these traits in both college and my future career when it comes to taking ownership and doing what you said you would do is an important trait for a great manager.
