I was born on a breezy, autumnal night, in the beautiful city of Miami Florida, on October 29, 2001. I do not remember much of my early childhood years, but from what I have heard from family members, I was a loving, independent, respectful young girl. Ever since that tender age my mom would tell me that I was going to be successful in life. To this day I have had a lot of opportunities that hopefully show that I am a person worthy of consideration for admission into University of Central Florida. because I have a good character, perseverance, and a benevolent character. To begin with, one of the major events in my life was my younger sister birth.

My sister was born in 2005 when I was four years old. I remember the day my parents told me I was going to become an older sister. I was really excited and could not wait to become a big sister. I would never forget the words of the doctor when he announced the gender. Dr. Ayala mentioned “Rachel are you ready to become an older sister to a beautiful baby girl!!!!” I do not recall every getting jealous over the news, I know some siblings don’t like it when their parents mention that to them. But in my case, it was different because I always wished to be an older sister. I have always had a good character especially with my family. I have always been very respectful and caring. My parents, especially my dad would tell me every night these words “how lucky am I to have such a loving little girl, you make me the happiest dad alive”. When my sister was born I would always be the one to help out with the chores around the house because my mom would take care of my baby sister. In the same way that I have a good character, I have always been very perseverance.
The United States of America is a country full of awesome opportunities and I have to work hard for what I want, if I do not work for what I want I will not be able to accomplish my major goals in life. I have the perfect example of my parent. Both my parents are immigrants from Cuba, they came to this country seeking for a better quality of life. They knew that Cuba was not where they wanted to spend the rest of their lives, because they felt they can do so much better, and while staying in Cuba they were not going to advance. Me as an individual have learned to appreciate the things that I have, and the opportunity life has given me. My amazing support system of my family, friends and even teachers that have pushed me to pursue my dreams and never to give up. My fifth-grade teacher Ms. Aylin Sanchez once said to be “Never reach for anything less than your best! And always remember to reach for the milky way, the stars the limit!” Having the chance of being born in such an amazing country with open doors for everyone I had to take advantage and that is what I have been trying to do little by little. As of right now I am a junior in high school doing dual enrollment. It has been a sacrifice, but I know it will all be worth it at the end. Not only am I a person with a lot of perseverance but also very benevolent. Ever since I was a little girl I was always the helpful girl in class. Always willing to help kids in class.
To the extent where I became the student council president in 5th and 6th grade. I had the opportunity to organize amazing school events in order to help out the community. Out of many school events I organized, I was able to organize this amazing event, where we collected canned food and donated them to the homeless facilities for the thanksgiving season. Another successful event I had the honor of being a part was to collect pennies for cancer patients. My school was able to collect over six thousand dollars. Not only did I have a good character in school but also at home. I have always been very mature for my age and that is one of the qualities I like about myself. During my freshman year of high school, my maternal grandfather was diagnosed with cancer, and didn’t have much time left, so after receiving that shocking news I decided to be his caregiver after school. I would go to high school until two thirty in the afternoon and then go home and spend the afternoon with him. Spending time with him was the least I could have done so that he could have felt more comfortable.
My grandfather was a very important person in my life and after his passing it was not easy on me but luckily, I had great family and friends to support me. To conclude, I believe my life has shown that I have got what it takes to succeed in University of Central Florida because in my life I have learned to have a good character to have, never to give up and be caring to people. I consider myself an individual capable of doing great things in life, thanks especially to my amazing family and friends that have been with me every step of the way.
