Throughout history, many events have influenced society in ways that have everlasting effects. Some of these have benefitted society and allowed us to progress, while others have left us with much despair. An event purposely meant to cause harm using violence to achieve some type of goal is known as a terrorist attack. Terrorism occurs in many parts of the world, with some attacks and motives being much more violent and on a larger scale than others.
One of the largest and profound terrorist groups is known as Al Qaeda, led by Osama Bin Laden in the past, has been associated with a multitude of terrorist attacks that have caused the US to act against them by insinuating The War on Terror. Despite the death of Osama Bin Laden in 2001, reported by Benazir Bhutto and other government officials, this essay will prove he was kept alive in mainstream media for the convenience of the US government. This will be displayed through the lack of evidence supporting US claims and the economic, political, and social gain of the US following the events of September 11.
On December 13, 2001, Osama bin Laden passed away due to kidney failure in Afghanistan.1 On September 11 the same year, the terror attacks against the US took place and without any clear evidence, Al Qaeda was blamed. In response to the blatant statements proposed by the US, Osama bin Laden released his first ever video message stating ‘I have already said I am not involved. I try my best to avoid telling a lie. I had no knowledge… nor do I consider the killing of innocent women, children, and other humans as an appreciable act.’3 Instantly, it is clear that Osama bin Laden is telling the truth as being not only a part but the leader of a terrorist organization claiming responsibility of a terrorist attack is done to promote the group and draw public attention.
Hence, logically it makes no absolute sense to blame the organization that is not taking responsibility for the attacks whatsoever. Despite the denial, Osama bin Laden’s home at the Tora Bora mountains was still being struck by the US. Months later another videotape was released of bin Laden, and it was evident his health was deteriorating as his beard had become grey and skin had become noticeably pale.5 Again, he stated that he was not responsible and denied any association to the events of 9/11.6 Then, on December bin Laden passed away according to an account from a Taliban official at the time as well as Benazir Bhutto.
He was buried at Tora Bora, and no marking was left on the grave as per Wahhabi tradition. However, the death of Osama bin Laden was not covered by western media in spite of being perpetrated as the largest threat to the US at the time. Now the War on Terror was initially invoked to eliminate the threat of Osama bin Laden, which now been accomplished as he had evidently passed away. Yet, Osama bin Laden was never pronounced dead in mainstream media until the alleged assassination in 2011 at Abbottabad, Pakistan.
On September 11, 2001, Islamic extremists hijacked multiple passenger planes in the US from which the 2 that inflicted the most devastation were flown into the World Trade Center in New York. Over 2000 deaths occurred, and this was arguably one of the most important events in modern day history as it allowed for the launch of the global war on terror. However, after the event was analyzed years later, many suspicions arose regarding the actual legitimacy of the event. Currently, more than half of the American population believes that their government is concealing information about September 11 due to a lack of information and evidence supporting US claims. When the planes struck the twin towers, both towers collapsed, and the steel-framed buildings crumbled to the ground.
After a further investigation was conducted by hundreds of engineers and physicists, the statement was made that, “neither before nor since 9/11 have fires caused the total collapse of a steel-framed high-rise.” Instead, a controlled demolition is the most logical conclusion held by over 100 university professors as well as individuals ranging from left to right on the political spectrum. Even examination of the dust from the collapse showed residue of a chemical known is thermite, which can melt steel and is in possession of the US military providing more of an indication towards a controlled demolition despite the irrefutable evidence already discovered. Furthermore, US authorities knew about the attacks taking place, yet nothing was done to prevent the events of 9/11.
