We all have our own opinions in this world, we also have the right to freedom of expression. Freedom of expression is often a topic that can easily cause a debate because freedom of expression can be taken in both a good and bad way. This causes pros and cons to form, making the topic very sensitive and complicated.
Freedom of expression allows one to get an insight into another’s life. This makes it that people can see the way others think and feel about a certain topic. This will help people to understand each other and better comprehend the way they see the world from their point of view. Having this knowledge about someone is beneficial when arguing or trying to prove a point. When someone is permitted to express themselves, it makes the person feel acknowledged and heard. It makes them feel as if they are of some importance in the situation they are presented with.
According to research done by American students, “freedom of expression is a fundamental human right. It also underpins most other rights and allows them to flourish.” Without the freedom of expression no one would know what pleases and upsets the other people around them, therefore without this right the development of the society would come to a standstill and nothing would be done. Industries would stop due to the fact that they wouldn’t know if what they are producing is good or not. The right to freedom of expression also allows one’s character to grow because they must choose an appropriate response to the opinions given.
The freedom of expression can be abused or used with the intent to hurt. Abusing the right to freedom can lead to problems or complications in the country. Abusing freedom of expression is commonly known as bullying which we all know is not a positive thing. When the right is abused it can cause a lot of health and mental problems if directed at a specific person. Freedom of expression, if used incorrectly, can lead to someone wanting or wishing for the death of either themselves or of someone else. It can also cause fights in the country to occur which will end up with an unhappy country.
The right to freedom of expression is a very sensitive right that should be thought over before it is used. I firmly believe that the freedom of expression is important in world and is vital but I do also believe that is shouldn’t be used to hurt for it could cause serious damage.
