Cause

The idea of making it legal came not so long ago. In the late 19th century, the idea to make this legal was opposed by feminists that believed this is a way to relieve men of responsibility. Between 1900 and 1965, there weren’t any movements or rallies against abortion because most states around the world have passed laws banning it at all levels. The only way a woman could get an abortion was if a physician determined this would protect her life. It was in the 1960s that some states started changing the abortion law, and people started rallies and protests to make this a woman’s right.

Outcome

Even today, after so many protests on behalf of the supporters of the idea, many countries haven’t made abortion a legal choice. The pro-life supporters stress the humanity of the fetus, arguing that this is a human person that deserves legal protection. This has become a legal and political issue in many countries. Abortion laws vary greatly between jurisdictions, ranging from public abortion funding to outright prohibition.

purpose
Arguments for

Supporters of abortion rights believe that these services should be available at selected periods in the pregnancy. They argue that, at this point, abortion does not equal ending a life since the embryo is not classified as a living thing and still cannot survive on its own. On top of this, supporters argue that women that decide to have an abortion and are not legally allowed to often opt to unsafe methods of terminating their pregnancy. Making it legal would offer them a safe solution.

purpose
Arguments against

While some people are pro-choice, others are anti-abortion. According to the opponents of elective abortion, this equals murder and no one has the right to terminate a life, even if it is still considered an embryo
