In this modern time, safety still associates degree objective to achieve, curfew law has been known and projected for keeping children safe at night. Not only it lowers the crime rates, but it also reduces the wrongful conduct of kids. It has been imposed by a higher authority in hopes to build a healthier and safer environment for the younger generations to grow up in good virtues and to be passed down to the next (Ruslan, 2019). It sounds like a good idea but, for some countries who are discussing this issue, the government has to employ more police force. The reason for it is to balance the weight of counter-crime and to ensure juvenile safety. Not only that, but the government also has to calculate the possible expense for establishing this law, and it’s not cheap. What affects the child is two sides of the same coin, such as their reaction to it. Some might think this practice is good for self-disciplinary, but the majority believe this practice is restricting freedom. Not only it will strain the relationship between police and youngsters, but it can also recoil: increasing juvenile victimizations or overall crime. In short, curfew law purpose is to prioritize the safety of youngsters by increase the police force.

Iceland is currently Malaysia’s role model for children and juvenile curfews with children aged 12 and under aren’t allowed outdoors after 8 p.m unless accompanied by an adult. Teenagers aged 13 to 16 are curbed outdoors after 10:00 p.m. unless on their way home from a recognized after-school activity organized by a school, sports organization, or youth club. The cabinet raises the issue of teenagers involves in illegal activity, they aim to counter it using the curfew law. As Dr. Wan Azizah envisions this arrangement can encourage drug addicts to seek treatment, the committee offers those who ‘check-in’ to rehabilitation centers deliberately to be free from the offenders’ registry. The cabinet believes that practicing this law will decrease juvenile crime rates, but the citizens are not too keen on the concept. The cabinet receives the majority of citizens opposing the approach because of heavy restraint on teens, and they believe that this is a family issue and not a nation’s dilemma. In short, the cabinet believes that implying the law will reduce juvenile crime by restricting a portion of freedom, which the public isn’t eager.

There are many factors curfew law is debated in Malaysia cabinet. One of the factors is youngsters aren’t improved with morals and discipline. Thus it leads us to the parent’s view, with they want their children to be safe and nurture properly. The cabinet thinks that the curfew law will assist in parent authority, giving parents the confidence to establish more authority at home. This may drive teens into the corner to rebel against their parents, causing misunderstandings and argument outbreaks in the family. The reason for the outbreak is due to the violation of the human rights of children; parents instead, prefer that the government should prioritize better education for their children to raise their self-awareness than restriction from this law. In short, Malaysian parents prefer that curfew and child discipline should stay within the family. They believe that higher education is the solution for children to be well-disciplined instead of restricted.

At last, the cause and effects of curfew law show us the different sides of the same coin. The government hopes to shield and protect children and teenagers from crimes and ill-behavior, well by parents believes that this practice should stay within their family, and the child’s freedom should not be restricted.
