In this paper, I will address many misconceptions about immigrants, which is an umbrella term for many individuals who hope to reside in the United States from other countries. Under this, you will find refugees which are defined as a person who has been forced to leave their country in order to escape war, persecution, or natural disaster. These people have been forced to leave their country because they fear that they will not survive if they stay in their country. Each year the United States, Canada, Australia, Russia and most of Western Europe make a list where they set the net positive rate each year also known as the maximum number of refugees they will be accepting that year.

However, we cannot let an act by one group change how we feel about the others America is known for being a country made up of different cultures who come together and for one nation. This melting pot theory is what makes us such an innovative nation. Without these different cultures, we would not be the great nation we are today. This graph represents how there has been a tremendous drop in the number of refugees admitted to the United States in each fiscal year.
The reason for this is the tightened security vetting procedures in the United States can take a while. These people have been forced to leave their country because they fear that if they will not survive if they stay in their country. These people are not just coming to the country because of pf free will. They are coming to protect their family, invest in their future. Imagine being in their situation, they most likely do not have a reliable source of income because of the traumatic situation, or they are separated from their families because of this crisis. Although we cannot solve the refugee crisis by ourselves we should try to adjust to the 21st century and find a way to suit individuals that come from different countries while protecting our great country. One of the major benefits of the immigrants coming to the United States is diversification when the population increases so do the profits, businesses and local production. Along with creating a stronger global economy. An example of this is how more than 40% of the gross domestic products of Guatemala comes from remittances provided by immigrants who now live in the United States. Immigration also promotes lower levels of crime, one misconception is that immigrants increase the crime rate but it’s actually the opposite.

In the United States, we have a lot of land that definitely needs to be put to better use, by producing local goods like fruits and vegetables immigrants are not only combating overpopulation but they are helping produce more resources as well. Although it is preferred that immigrants come into the United States legally not everyone can do that being how long the process takes in the United States, as well as the price to gain citizenship.
