If your dad happens to be as popular as the former American footballer OJ Simpson, then, you can’t run away from the limelight. Such is the case of Sydney Brooke Simpson, OJ’s daughter from his second marriage with Nicole Brown. Sydney who prefers to live her life in quietude is a business woman with a finger in real estate. She is also a restaurateur, co-owning and managing a restaurant with her younger brother Justin Simpson. This article is poised to X-ray Sydney’s personal details, including her current relationship with OJ.
Sydney Brooks Simpson was born on the 17th of October 1985 in the US. Her dad OJ Simpson played professional football in the US but later delved into acting and also functioned as an advertising consultant, while her mum Nicole Brown served tables as a waitress. The American national has one direct brother Justin Ryan, who is younger than her by three years. Her dad’s first marriage made Sydney a half-sibling to Arnelle Simpson, Jason Simpson, and Aaren Simpson who died in 1979 by drowning.
Her parent’s union endured for seven years, ending in a 1992 divorce, but an ugly incident happened a couple of years later in 1994. Sydney Brooks Simpson’s mum and Ron Goldman – her friend were found outside Nicole’s LA apartment stabbed to death. OJ became the prime suspect in the ensuing 11 months of intentionally famous, nationally televised and highly publicized trial. The case was widely referred to as “The Trial of the Century”.
At the end of the trial on the 3rd of October 1995, Sydney’s father was not found guilty of either murder, and was thus, acquitted. However, the ensuing mass dissatisfaction following the judgment led Ron Goldman’s family to file for a civil lawsuit against Sydney’s dad, and this time, OJ was found guilty for the two murders with an order to pay the sum of $33,500,000 as compensation.
With that said about her parents, Sydney Brooks Simpson attended Gulliver Academy and later proceeded to the College of Arts and Science at Boston University to study sociology. After graduating in 2010, OJ Simpson’s daughter spent some years in Atlanta working at Canoe as an event coordinator. She also tried her hands at several other jobs before moving to St Peterburg in Florida.
After her mum’s gruesome murder, Sydney Brooke Simpson and her brother were taken in by their maternal relatives. However, OJ’s family began to share custody of the children in later years. Following their father’s conviction, reports came that both Sydney and Justin refused to have anything to do with their dad, but OJ and his attorney made it difficult to confirm the report by making a public denial, stating that he was not estranged from his children.
Even with all OJ’s claims, he was never seen with his children until recently in 2018 when the trio were spotted spending Thanksgiving together on a beach in Florida. They enjoyed a meal at a Tierra Verde seafood bar and grill looking really cool with themselves. Since she launched her real estate business, the families of the murder victims have shown interest in knowing the source of Sydney’s capital. Her small business empire acquired over 13 apartments and homes in low-income locations with the worth pegged at $500,000. According to reports, all the properties except two were purchased with cash.
If revealed to implicate her dad, Sydney Brooke Simpson’s source of capital may yet result into another lawsuit between OJ and the families of his late ex-wife and Goldman. According to David Cook, attorney for Goldman’s dad, he is currently perusing bank deposits and records in a bid to follow Sydney’s trail of cash. And if any of the properties were revealed to have been acquired with OJ’s money, it would make both Sydney and her brother eligible for a recoup.
Cook went further to say that any funds from OJ to his children would be considered a “fraudulent conveyance,” which in a layman’s language means transfer of cash in a bid to avoid debt. The lawyer deemed it fit to make this investigation as OJ is still neck deep in debt of $33.5 million for the civil judgment brought against him.
So until Cook comes up with some proof, it is safe to surmise that neither Sydney Brooke Simpson nor her younger brother has inherited any money from their dad. However, sources have pegged her current net worth at $500,000, which she earned from her career in real estate. Upon her move to Florida, she got a job as a caterer. Even the negative vibes that emanated from her mum’s death did not deter Sydney Brooke Simpson from forging ahead in life.
She later delved into real estate under the business name Simspy LLC. Her business is doing so well that she acquired four properties within one year from 2015 to 2016. She later added other properties to her collection as time went by. Sydney is also the owner of her home in St. Petersburg, and co owns a restaurant with her younger brother. Presently, she is living the single life with her dogs and hardly makes public appearance.
