Teaching Is My Calling in Life

Throughout my entire life, I never thought that I would become teacher. I was never interested in becoming a teacher before, because my interests have always revolved around interior design, fashion, art and reading English and Arabic novels. This was up until I decided to give teaching a try and now I can say that I have a new passion in life, which is to teach and I am very proud of it.

I graduated from college with a bachelor’s degree in English literature.

This was the best choice for me because there is always a need for English speakers in my country, and since I love the language and reading I thought it would be the best option and I was right. The focus of my studies included Prose, which allowed me to enjoy my hobby of reading novels. I also read a lot of drama and poetry throughout my time in college. During my studies, I found myself constantly thinking of how humans can only live once but somehow while reading, the authors are able to make it feel as though you are alive in a different time and place.

This is what makes me love to read and keeps me wanting to always read more. When I graduated from college, I applied to work in many places and I was fortunate enough to be offered a job in a school. At that time I wasn’t thinking I would work there as a teacher. I started to work as an educational assistant.

I was working with young students and I began to notice how much of an affect they had on me and how we all became so attached to one another. From this point on my perspective of teaching changed and I realized that I wanted to become more than an educational assistant, I wanted to become a teacher. I realized this is my calling in life and it is something I could see myself doing forever.

Now that I have been a kindergarten teacher for couple years, I have been fortunate enough to help my students develop and grow. It is a real pleasure to see the impact that you can have on a child’s life. I like to think of children as though they are like a blank page and you’re the first to write on it. There is nothing that makes me happier than knowing that I can make a difference in some if not all of my student’s lives. It is amazing how the kids are influenced by you and that you get to be their inspiration and I wish to continue to do that. In teaching they are not the only one who is learning, also you could be learning from them. I learned how to patient, how to control my temper, how to be passionate about what I do with them, how to be stay positive and the students have helped make me more creative.

I feel this position allows me to strengthen my weaker skills and helps to develop them. Whenever I had a difficult student I would always try to figure out new techniques to help them. I am always eager to take any new courses that will enhance my strategies in teaching and time management. My work experience makes me want to help children to discover who they are, and express themselves freely. I am really looking to expand my knowledge in the field of education and to find new techniques and strategies in ways of teaching and developing myself. I have a dream to succeed and to be the best in what I am doing.
