Why do some critics question the effectiveness of the United Nations? The United Nations role is to make sure states have full sovereignty over their own affairs, states should have full independence and should be able to carry out their own international obligations. The UN wants to maintain peace and security! Ultimately the UN wants world peace and everyone to cooperate under the same law, and if someone doesn’t abide to this they will enforce peace by taking action. Some critics question the effectiveness of the United Nations because they don’t want to follow the same rules or maybe don’t like the idea of being forced to do something. Each state or nation or even group has their own way of thinking and don’t always agree with how the UN works. Some Nations rather do it their own way and make their own rules which sometimes may be the complete opposite of what the UN wants.
