Dr. Thomas Fuller once said, “He who plants trees loves others besides himself.” We should all care for the trees. Planting trees shows your community that you care. We can make a big difference if we all help. The Lorax demonstrates more Global and Ethical citizenship than Hoot because Ted, the main character restores a large amount of land, whereas Roy saved a few owls. The Lorax teaches a valuable lesson to the viewer and the characters, and Ted was more motivated than Roy, and put more effort into accomplishing his goal. In terms of the impact Ted had on his city, he affected Thneedville positively more than Roy. Secondly, the Lorax demonstrates more Global and Ethical citizenship than Hoot because Ted teaches a valuable lesson to his people, while and in Hoot, even though Roy defends the owls, but he doesn’t not go out of his way to inform the entire town about them.“‘Unless someone like you cares a whole awful lot, nothing is going to get better. It’s not’”(Renaud 2012). Ted realizes the importance of the seed and the importance of his role. He knew he had to inform everyone about the importance of trees. In terms of the lesson learned, Ted made sure his city would remember the importance of the natural land. In The Lorax, Ted attended the Once- let’s storytelling step-sister every day, and put himself in danger of arrest by the O’ Hare company, but he was determined to get a tree, whereas Roy was not as motivated to reach his goal. “‘Wait, wait! I have what it takes.’” (Renaud 2012). Roy had an option. He didn’t need to help save the owls. In truth, he didn’t physically do anything do anything physical to help his friends, he just spread the word. His friend Mullet Fingers did all the work. Ted accomplished more than Roy all by himself, than Roy and Beatrice (Mullet Finger’s step sister) combined. The Lorax demonstrates more Global and Ethical citizenship better than Hoot, because Ted restores a large amount of land, he teaches a valuable lesson, and he was more motivated than Roy, to accomplish his goal.
