First of all, I want to introduce you to the topic of this report: Asthma. Doctor’s Arvind Tani (Mayo clinic video) for asthma is: “Asthma is a treatable but not curable chronic condition where you have inflammation, mucus, spasm, and small airways”. Like a respiratory disease, asthma makes breathing difficult and so it typically can present with coughing or wheezing chest tightness or shortness of breath”. It does not matter how old you are, everybody can get asthma at any age. Sometimes it starts when you are a child or maybe it starts late when you are already an adult and the type of asthma that you have can determine which symptoms you experience.

When we try to find a single cause for asthma, we realize that the real cause is certainly unknown, and there is a variety of factors that researchers believe are causes. On one hand, we have the genetic factor, because in many cases when your parents have asthma, it is more likely that you will get asthma at any moment of your life. According to the NHLBI (National Heart, Lung and Blood Institute) genes are responsible for your immune system functions, if in your genetic information is ‘written’ that you will react efficiently to the allergens, you will do, but if it is not the case, because of your parent’s heritage, you will probably get the condition. Another possible cause is the environment in which you interact every single day. That is because in your daily routine many things can get into triggers for you, for example, a perfume, it is very normal that some animals could get your asthma worse, abrupt changes in the weather or even the pollution. Everybody has a different kind of triggers, but normally more than one.

As I have cited before, there is no complete cure for asthma. If you have asthma the correct thing that you should do is a treatment that helps you to manage your symptoms. Ph.D., Debra Sullivan says that treatments fall into three primary categories: breathing exercises, first aid treatments, and control medications. Most of the people have to live with asthma all the life, sometimes it disappears for a long time and maybe you will never get the symptoms anymore, but if you don’t take care of yourself correctly it could be repetitive trough the time, which means that you will not be able to do things like physical activity because it could be dangerous for your health.

Finally, I think that people who have asthma should be always alert and be punctual with their medicament controls, if they do not take care of themselves asthma can get worse more and more. And it could be hard to make normal activities. Asthma looks like an inoffensive condition, but it could get too dangerous if we don’t take enough care about it.
