Department of Health and Human Services, the United State accounts every year for more than 480,000 deaths or about 1 in 5 deaths which are linked to smoke. Based on this statistic, it is evidence that smoking is very harmful for people’s health. About the components of the tobacco smoke, a study shows that is a “complex, dynamic and reactive mixture containing an estimated 5,000 chemicals” (Borgerding M, Klus H, 43-73).

Consequently, tobacco smoke attacks the human body in different ways with many diseases. Some of these harmful and negative effects are immediate and some are long-term. Among all of diseases, inhaling tobacco can lead to lung cancer, damages your heart and affects your reproduction and fertility. Tobacco smoke is one of the factors that cause lung cancer. What happened to your respiratory system when you inhale these poisonous chemicals products? According to some scientific researches, the mixture of these chemicals products affects directly your lung. Because the bloodstream catches up and transports them to every organ in the body. In this situation the DNA of a person is affected. When the DNA is damaged, there no control on the cells, then they grow and change unmanageable. That leads the body to develop cancer. Even tough someone does not smoke he can be affected by breathing the other’s people smoke. That is what they called secondhand smoke. Lung cancer is the most common cancer all around the world. According to the American Lung Association, there were 1. 8 million new cases in 2012, as well as 1. 6 million deaths from lung cancer.

The fact is that if you smoke your heart will have signs of early CVD and harms the cardiovascular system. Another dangerous effect that smoking causes on human is the difficulty on reproduction. Studies have demonstrated that smoking and using tobacco are destructive to reproductive health. The most recent Surgeon General’s Report on smoking and health says that women who smoke tobacco expose themselves to different risks and diseases. This can be the death of the mother, the fetus or newborn child. Further, the study says smoking before pregnancy decrease fertility. Each year, about 400,000 infants born in the United State are exposed to the chemicals products of cigarette because of their mothers.

Since the first Surgeon General’s Report on smoking and health was released in 1964, 100,000 babies have died from Sudden Infant Death Syndrome (SIDS), prematurity, low birth weight, or other complications. Due to smoking, erectile dysfunction is a condition that men also face. Cigarette smoke changes blood flow needed for erection and affects the healthy function of blood vessels in erectile tissue. Overall cigarette smoking is really harmful for people’s health. Many diseases are linked to smoking and even non-smokers are affected by others who smoke.
