Many people play volleyball but don’t know what the objects they interact with, are made out of. The three parts of a volleyball are the outer shell, the core, and the panels on the inside. Over 70% of all volleyballs are made from synthetic materials to allow the ball to be hit vigorously. The outer shell of the volleyball is made with synthetic leather that is very firm. Synthetic leather is made out of synthetic fibers that is coated with a plastic polymer. The outer shell is supposed to be a hard and smooth surface that allows the player to make good contact with the ball.

The core is made out of rubber which is a synthetic material that gives the ball its bounciness. To start with, you need to assemble your latex from the elastic trees utilizing a traditional procedure called elastic tapping. That includes making a wide, V-molded cut in the tree’s bark. As the latex trickles out, it’s gathered in a cup. The latex from several trees is then sifted, washed, and mixed with acid to make the particles of elastic stick together. The elastic is squeezed into pieces or sheets and then dried, ready for the following phases of production.

The core is supposed to be the base of the ball and gives the ball its shape and size. The core of the volleyball is made out of rubber due to its weight which is very light. Rubber is a good choice because of its flexibility and how bouncy it is. The panels are made out of genuine leather which is a natural material. Natural leather is made out of the hide of an animal. Mainly the hide of a cow is used to create the leather needed for the panels of the volleyball. The panels are supposed to create the middle between the outer shell and the core of the volleyball. The panels and outer core are both made by synthetic leather.

Many people enjoy playing volleyball, but they don’t know how they will affect the environment. The core of the volleyball is made out of rubber. Rubber can be made both naturally and synth, through the latex found in certain plants, and synthetically, through a process that uses unsaturated hydrocarbons. Due to the extreme prevalence of rubber products in the U.S., in which at least 279 million tires are discarded per year, rubber recycling has become more common — this keeps vast amounts of rubber out of landfills, as there is market demand for nearly 80 percent of scrap tires, according to the U.S. Environmental Protection Agency. The panels and outer shell of the volleyball is made out of synthetic leather. The production of the PVC used in making o numerous synthetic leather requires a plasticizer called a phthalate to make it flexible and soft. PVC requires oil and a lot of energy in making it dependent on non-renewable energy sources. During the creation process carcinogenic byproducts, dioxins, are delivered which are toxic to people and animals.

Dioxins stay in the environment long after PVC is produced. At the point when PVC ends up in a landfill it doesn’t decompose like real leather and can release hazardous chemicals into the water and soil. In conclusion, volleyballs are made out of very diverse materials that are used on an everyday basis. In conclusion, the rubber in a volleyball would not harm the environment but the synthetic leather would because of how much technology is needed.
