We live in an era where technology is constantly growing, beneficiating society. Throughout the years specialists have notice that. Every year, thousands of Americans are exposed to many different health hazards that put in danger lifies of their loved ones. Human poisoning has become a huge problem for the United States. One of the biggest concerns that specialist about this field have is that some of the most dangerous substances are known to be household products. Throughout the years, many specialists from all over the country have done research about the potential cases related to human poisoning. On the research article, “Emergency Visits for Prescription Opioid Poisonings,” the Nationwide Emergency Department Sample conducted an observational study about the number of emergency visits to the hospital for poisoning by opioids. Opioid abuse and overdose have become a big issue in the U.S. opioid overdose related deaths have steadily increased. It is estimated that around 100 Americans die each year from poisonings associated with opioid overdose. From 2006 through 2010, there were over 250,000 emergency visits by potential poisoning associated to opioids, and the most interesting outcome was that 54% of the visits were unintentional poisonings. From the unintentional poisoning cases, the majority are associated to prescription and opioid overdoses. Overall, patients that get opioid medication precepted to them are in a big health risk. Most of these prescriptions are often written for pain control and sometimes they ended up on the street. The research on this article suggests that for everyone person who dies from prescription opioid poisoning, there are twenty emergency visits because of opioid and over 700 people not seeking medical attention. The goal for this study is to spread awareness and possibly help decrease the magnitude of this problem.

The substances that were most associated with human poisoning in the Unites States. In 2017, analgesics were the most leading cause of human poisoning with almost 300,000 reported cases in the country. Cleaning substances associated with household were the second most common cause of poisoning with almost 200,000 potential cases. brothemalin is a substance used typically for pest control, also known as rat poison. The National Poison Data System (NPDS) Annual Reports show that cases relate to bromethalin exposures have been increasing since 2007. The effects of this substance mostly affect the central nervous system. The NPDS concluded that bromethalin products contains a new substance that has the potential to cause a higher possibility of poisoning in humans and other species. This new substance causes concerns to specialists in this field but there is nothing they can do about it because these products are expected to dominate the retail market for a long time. Specialists are encouraged to inform the public about the danger of these products. In all possible cases of rodenticide exposure, health specialists are aware of any bromethaline related complications.

Cyanotoxin is a blue green algae that is associated to fresh and blackish water environments and it is also a potential health hazard to Americans because of some of their toxins that are so harmful to not only humans but also to animals. Approximately 2/3 of the possible cases have occurred in Europe and the Unites States. Cyanotoxins poisoning can occur by direct or indigent exposure. Direct exposure relates to any type of contact with water exposed to the algae. Indirect exposure can occur by the consumption of animal and plant products. That have been exposed to the algae. Specialists in this field indicated that cyanotoxins can accumulate their toxins in food chains. Based on the data from Figure 1, cyanotoxins are considered part of plants that can cause poisoning to humans with more than 50,000 cases reported in the U.S.

The Unites states is remotely known to be a county with amazing health programs that look out for their patients, compared to other countries that do not have enough resources. The research article “Perspective on Lean Toxicity, a Comparison Between the Unites States and Iran,” discusses how lead toxicity is a huge health problem for both countries. For over 30 years, the World Health Organization (WHO) and the International Programme of Chemical Safety have created some programs to mitigate lead poisoning for the whole world. The Unites States have player an excellent role with government regulations and public health innervations to try to decline lead poisoning in the country, however, lead exposure is still a major health hazard for Americans. Lead exposure is a huge substance that continues to affect many people and because of the big expansion of lean via environmental exposure can impact the entire population. The most significant source of environmental lead exposure in the country is lead paint an affects the most vulnerable group of people, children. Children can be exposed to lead in homes when lead based paint begins to flake or chip. Renovation of these homes can still have lead paint particles that can be inhaled. The Lead Bases Paint Poison Prevention Act lowered the maximum allowable lead concentration for paint to be utilized as a household product from 0.5 to 0.06 percent. Lead exposure can also occur as a contaminant in water and soil. Soil lead exposer occurs due to industrial emission of gases. The U.S. government have regulated the use of lead pipes for the high amount of lead concentration in water. Thanks to all the efforts conducted by the U.S. government, the amount of toxins released in waters have declined. The main purpose of this article is to share awareness about lead poisoning not only in the U.S. but also in Iran. It also emphases the level of risk that citizens of both countries are facing.

The substances with the lowest number of human poisoning in the country are Other/Unknown Non drug Substances with over 30,000 cases reported in 2017. Poisonings associated with intubation is characterized by this category. The research article “Poisonings Associated with Intubation: U.S. National Poison data System Exposures 2000-2013,” emphasized how infants are in a huge risk while being associated with intubation after they born. Babies that born with any respiratory failure or cardio vascularity instability are needed be intubated and because of this, they might be exposed to a variety of substances. Specialists argue that there are different types of substances related with intubation but yet they have not found out the exact information about them. The National Poison Data System (NPDS) tracks some information from potential exposure to substances reported and is closely working with the American Association of Poison Control Centers. Based on the information acquired from these agencies, there were over than 90,000 single substances exposures and over than 200,000 multiple substances exposures that were associated with intubation.
