The first step to have a successful career starts with education. Everyone in the world must get educated having a successful career not only for themselves but for the society and family. Kofi Annan said, Knowledge is power, Information is liberating. Education is the premise of progress, in every society, in every family.
One of the most and best debatable topic to discuss is Education. Education is a primary key in today’s world to gain success for Childrens. Moreover, Nelson Mandela said, “Education is the most powerful weapon which you can use to change the world.” “The power of education extends beyond the development of skills we need for economic success. It can contribute to nation-building and reconciliation. ” Everyone must get educated for their own benefits, but the cost is the concern for people which worries them and disallows them to study further after completing High School but should education be free for everyone? It is one of the world’s complicated questions to answer because of its positive and negative effects. Education should be free for everyone because of various reasons.
Firstly, the main reason is affordability of money where only parents with more money can afford to send their child in college. This creates inequality where poor gets nothing and rich gets all. Moreover, also after graduation students are left with liability that they keep on paying them till life as they borrow them for completing their university and in most situations students are also unable to payback. Education also must be one of the need to survive with water and shelter with this the nation will also benefit with country producing more outstanding labors.
In America FAFSA or financial aid is a government aid provided to citizens in terms of grants or loans which again depends on if a student graduated with having more or less to payback. Furthermore, by making it free students will have more freedom to opt for their majors as they will not be wary about costs or any other expenses as parents will also feel more relaxed in this situation. Many people will wish to go to college and the country will be having more well-educated workforce with students studying without paying costs. Sen. Bernie Sanders said, ‘We are moving in exactly the wrong direction in higher education. Forty years ago, tuition in some of the great American public universities and colleges was virtually free. Today, the cost is unaffordable for many working class families. Higher education must be a right for all – not just wealthy families.’
Also, students will get more opportunity and knowledge in the college by getting more freedom on Informations, and thus not worrying about graduating in a short period. Children will be happier and can create innovative ideas out, also they will be healthier without having any stress of debts as with knowledge it will benefit the nation with political view as people will wish to vote more and most importantly children will be focused more on their education and can achieve good grades. Research shows that educated people live more than uneducated ones as people will not try to do suicide or anything to in order to harm themselves. Furthermore, it would benefit the economy as well as graduates will tend to spend more on the economy rather than paying back, and also population will increase. Educations in school are free in some countries, like Norway, USA, and Turkey for citizens and international students. However, a problem occurs after high school during university where individual must be ready to pay amount based on the major and the university. In USA, university cost is based upon two sectors- in state tuition which is less for students born in that particular state and out of state tuition which is little high based on the university. Private university is more expensive and will be benefiting more as than degree will find more value when students will be attending it. Students with special skills will be able to show their talents without money. Karl Marx said. “Education is free. Freedom of education shall be enjoyed under the condition fixed by law, and under the supreme control of the state. Many students in the world do not wish to study and decides to discontinue education between ages of sixteen to twenty-four and instead they will end up in jail, or get jobs in a company with low paid salary just because the education of the cheapest university is also not in their range. Moreover, corruption which is one of the most major problems in a country will get reduced in the country, as more qualified candidates will be available to pursue their skills and abilities to grow for the country. Mahatma Gandhi said, “Live as if you were to die tomorrow. Learn as if you were to live forever.”
Another reason would be everyone in terms of economic standard will be given equal rights and there will not be any conflicts occurring. Every single person in the country will get educated and will want to get highly paid jobs instead of begging or doing something unethical which again will benefit the country as no burden of free people roaming in the country will be there and problems like poverty will be solved. The more students will graduate advancements in technology will also get increasing with highly qualified students doing something innovative for their countries. Career starts when a person graduates from a popular university whether it is private where they pay more or public. Moreover, universities in The USA provide part-time jobs to international students to lower their costs. However, this must also be applicable everywhere in the world if there is no free education provided in university. Rather, just because of high costs students lose their minds and are not able to concentrate more on their studies which makes their GPA to fall. Furthermore, the cost of Master degree is also twice more than bachelor degree which again makes of people to think about doing it.
Despite all these advantages free education also has a drawback like it will not be easy to get admission straightforwardly as people will be studying same course all together which will lead to overcrowd and teaching will not be that much high with less quality because of congestion in classes. Another concern might be usage of resources as everyone will be tempting to use more than it may not be enough with great pressure. One of the major problems will be that Government will require more money to finance, so, they will take that from citizens or labors working by setting high taxes as education will be free which will in the end lower people’s income. Moreover, with free education youths might not understand the value of money instead will still act immature in a careless manner and with it people might not want to become plumbers or electrician so this skill might shortage in the country.
Most importantly it will create unemployment where there will be many graduates in the country with fewer jobs offered in the state. The value of degree also won’t matter that much as more people will be getting them and that will create less value for the degree. Students will not bother about anything instead will keep on repeating or withdrawing courses without any hesitation or might even start to un- attend classes.
Students from different countries will be joining, and that might create a problem with different cultures conflicting. Donna Shalala said, “You can’t have a university without having free speech, even though at times it makes us terribly uncomfortable. If students are not going to hear controversial ideas on college campuses, they’re not going to hear them in America. I believe its part of their education.”
